D-Tac K9 has trained hundreds of dogs which has given us the experience to problem solve and customize our training to individual dogs. We have worked with hundreds of law enforcement officers and their faithful partners to serve the community.
We have trained patrol dogs, narcotics detection dogs, and explosives dogs. It is crucial that these officers have a strong bond with their K9 partners, as their lives may depend on it.
Let us help you develop the same bond with your loyal partner. We will show you how your canine partner learns and interprets the world, and how you can effectively communicate with your dog to insure that you develop the proper relationship which is the foundation of all obedience.
D-Tac K9 has been training dogs for over thirty years. We are currently the trainers for over twenty law enforcement agencies in Northern California. (Including Placer County Sheriffs Office, Rocklin Police Dept, Folsom Police Dept, Amador Sheriffs Office, Grass Valley Police Dept, Sutter County Sheriff Office. and several Bay Area agencies in Napa, Contra Costa and Alameda Counties).
Our ten acre training facility is located in El Dorado County and service Sacramento County, Placer County, El Dorado County, Amador County and surrounding Bay Area Counties.

Our personal protection dogs are typically titled in Schutzhund/IPO/IPG or KNPV and hand selected by us in Europe. All dogs will receive an additional six to eight weeks of training at our facility. Each dog will pass a police K9 evaluation which includes obedience, searching outdoor areas and buildings, apprehension, gun fire acclimation and agility prior to being placed in their new home. Prices start at $30,000.
We are currently not accepting more than three dogs at a time into our 21 day "board and train" program. We want to make sure your dog gets our personal attention so that we can achieve great results in only three weeks. Your dog is our priority and will be treated like one of our own.
Many claim to train like the police and military. We actually train police dogs and are currently the trainers for over twenty law enforcement agencies. The typical police officer has never trained a dog prior to our basic handler class and often times we start with a dog that has had little or no training. In six weeks, they are ready to hit the streets. You will receive a lot of the same training education as the professional police dog handler. We will help you develop the same lasting bond that most police dog handlers have with their partners.
Each week is a building block. Our first week we are using positive reinforcement to build a relationship with your dog. The second week we will reinforce the learned behaviors. The third week consists of field trips to the "real world" to make sure your dog will perform the listed behaviors under increased distractions. We will take your dog to a variety of places and make sure you are regularly updated on your dog's progress. We will send you plenty of pictures of your dog's progress along the way!
We invite you to visit our facility when dropping off or picking up your dog. We will show you where your dog will sleep and give you a tour of our property. We want you to feel confident that your dog is in good hands.
"We couldn't be happier with Gregg's help with Baxter. Not only is he much more obedient, but we understand him and dog behavior so much better. Gregg's approach is so quiet, calm, and loving. His connection with dogs is amazing. Highest possible recommendation!"
